I was immediately drawn into the percussion of this piece; it's quite heavy but at the same time has a lightness to it that helps balance it out. There was a part near the end that felt extremely grating on the ears, particularly at 4:15 until 4:35. It just reminded me of drilling and construction work and didn't sit well with me.

Also the fact that it just hangs at the end without an actual cadence leads me to believe this piece is meant to be looped, but the repeat button is turned off for this, which proves otherwise. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not.

I thought the ticking percussion at the beginning sounded pretty cool and went well with the introduction, but maybe it could have improved if its pitch was varied a bit, brought down a notch or had some heavier bass drum sounds.

That aside, it was an easy to listen to piece. I love the swiping/sliding of the notes, if I may call them back. Towards the end it started to sound a little spacey, like drifting up into the stars on a summer night lol.

I'm not a fan of the voices; I just wanted to hear the music. :D Love the buildup near the start with the repetition of notes, but I feel like the gradual increase in volume could have happened a bit sooner. Some parts felt like they dragged on, and it seems like much of the length of this piece was due to repetition of notes that weren't quite clear cut.

I love the increase in speed, and for the most part the subtle bits of variety added to introduce and play around with old ideas worked well. It was interesting to see notes fill the space where the percussion normally was.

Was this piece for a boss battle at some point? I got no boss battle vibes from this track at all. Well, maybe an endless runner or platforming challenge-based boss battle I could picture this theme playing in.

Overall, it could have also benefited from a little more percussion, or perhaps heavier percussion. And the shouting voice accompaniment started to get irritating after the first ten seconds. I think it was because while the volume of the overall piece decreased, the voice remained constant, so it came off as loud and jarring. Think maybe 4:12 onwards? Somewhere around there.

Aw, I thought it was going to build up to something bigger than that, but the track was over before it had the chance. D: Maybe this is the style of trance...?

The motifs in this are catchy enough. At first listen, I felt they were too repetitive and should maybe be cut in half. The percussion also comes real late and I wanted to hear a lighter drum over top that after the first two repetitions.

I dig the piano bit though. The pause just before the drums was really good too.

I gotta admit, I'm not a huge fan of the melody, but the buildup with volume on the overlaying notes is neat and makes the piece more interesting. Has a nice beat too.

I don't know if I can offer any pointers; this might have been the sound you were going for, but it didn't suit my tastes personally. Given the title, I could imagine this was meant to reflect four different identities, even though it had the same gist throughout. It's still a very unique, almost dissonant sound.

Manx1 responds:

Thanks. I will say that the song actually does represent the four nouns it's titled after in different, personal ways. But I understand how it wouldn't seem like that to the random listener. Anyway, thanks for the review.
