This will be my first AIM ever since I joined. I can’t wait for it, and I already prepared what artwork I’m going to use first. :)

Yes! This was loads of fun last year as well.

This is gonna be fun

@X3LL3N in my opinion, no one can "judge" mastering perfectly. There will always be certain monitors that act unpredictability and judges on Newgrounds might only listen to songs on one set of monitors or headphones for time constraints. Newgrounds operates with volunteers but even pros have blindspots, mastering can drive you insane...

We already have three judges, myself included, but talk to Random StoryKeeper if you still want on. I have no idea how he might respond but I'd vouch for you. Someone that cares about mastering is going to pay attention to finer details :p

I just wanted to let you know that I have reached out to everyone who commented saying that they are interested via PM. I only need 3 judges and more people reached out than needed (which is awesome but unfortunately means I need to pick and turn down some people). I do appreciate your comments on mastering though.

Super hyped!

I'm always looking forward for this contest, by far the most enjoyable of the year. Can't wait!

Been spying on this from far afield, and hell, I might try it out. :)

Just a small question, though. For at least the *submissions phase*, is it feasible to use our own artwork to think about music to (provided said work is in the Newgrounds Art Portal), OR is it better to find someone elses? I don't mind either way, just mostly curious. I do fine art and music, so it'd be interesting to fuse the two together, even if its one of my older works, since most of them I haven't actually looked at, examined or thought on for a long time.

That's a good question! Using your own art as inspiration (assuming it satisfies all other rules) is *technically* allowed, but highly discouraged. The idea of the contest is to connect with and be inspired by Newgrounds artists. By using your own art, you lose that connection. The other concern is that depending on the timing, it may look as though you created the art after the music, which defeats the purpose of the contest.

If there is evidence that the art was created before the music, then it can be approved (again, assuming it satisfies all other requirements). Just be wary that using your own art as inspiration is highly discouraged and generally frowned upon, which will impact how the judges evaluate your work. It's kind of like voting for yourself - even if it is allowed, it doesn't reflect well on yourself.

Thanks for replying to the question. :) I'll be sure to take the advice to heart and find others' work as inspiration for the music. Can't wait to try this contest out. ^^ Never done AIM, in scope or theme, before.
